The Association of Students Acting in Service (ASAS):
The Association of Students Acting in Service (A.S.A.S.) is an organization in which recovering students and those supporting recovery create opportunities to encourage fun in recovery, support recovery in the homeless community, and promote awareness and education of addiction and recovery.
In 1989, students of the Center for the Study of Addiction founded the Association of Substance Abuse Specialists (ASAS) as an official Texas Tech University Student Organization. Over time, this arm of the organization, now named the Center for Collegiate Recovery Communities, grew to become the primary aspect of on-campus and off-campus service-related matters.
Each spring semester, since 1991, ASAS has hosted an Annual Recovery Convention for the entire Lubbock Community, providing education, outreach, and support regarding all aspects of Recovery.
In 2002, ASAS changed the organization name to the Association of Students about Service, keeping ASAS as the acronym. The revised name reflects that participating students no longer identify as solely gathered around the mission of becoming Chemical Dependency Counselors, and that students outside the CCRC can be members of ASAS, so long as they support recovery. Again in 2022 ASAS changed the organization name to the Association of Students Acting in Service to better represent the organization's commitment to acting in service. Over the years, ASAS entities have nominated and won various awards recognizing students' outstanding service and leadership.

- Diversity Week
ASAS promotes community-wide events:
- American Foundation for Suicide Prevention "Out of the Darkness" Walk
- National Eating Disorder Awareness Walk
